May 25
For those that may have forgotten or didn’t realize (like me), May 25th is Towel Day; an annual, international celebration of the late Douglas Adams (author of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Dirk Gently, and others). To mark the occasion and honor his memory, you should carry a towel with you everywhere you go. In case you don’t have a towel (or don’t know where your towel is), ThinkGeek conveniently has one available for purchase with the ever-useful, and friendly, advice “Don’t Panic”. The simple, straightforward towel measures 27″ x 52″ and costs approximately $16. Alas, you won’t be able to get it in time for today (unless they have some interesting time-travel delivery option), but once it arrives you’ll be set for whatever life throws your way.
Available from ThinkGeek. Retail price $15.99
Happy Towel Day!

Red Eye of Sauron Weta Crew Pin
Weta is releasing a new product to commemorate their 10th anniversary – the Red Eye of Sauron pin. While not exactly giving them away, the pins only cost $9.99 each. Similar pins were worn by Weta Workshop crew members on the set of the The Lord of the Rings trilogy
. If someone needed a Weta tech, they just looked for the Red Eye. Normally, the evil eye is something to avoid, but in this case I guess not. The 2.2″ (57 mm) pin was designed by John Howe, the book illustrator who worked as a chief conceptual designer on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Available from Weta. Retail price $9.99
