The recent post about the new R2-D2 USB cleaner got me thinking about all the useful, fun and sometimes impractical USB accessories available for sci-fi and fantasy fanatics. Some, like USB flash drives and hubs, are very practical. Others, like the USB light-up Alien, certainly fall into the fun spectrum. I’ve put together a list of many of the different USB gadgets I found across the web and where to buy them.
DC Direct has posted new images of the upcoming Dragon Age action figure series from DC Unlimited. Based on the 2009 video game Dragon Age: Origins from Electronic Arts, the new figure series captures four of the heroes and villains from the game. The action figures are approximately 6.5 inches tall and cost about $24 apiece. They are schedule for release on September 29, 2010, and available for pre-order now from several retailers and comic shops.
The world may not be ready for this, but Taito is bringing a USB-powered cleaner to desktops in the form of R2-D2. Powerful enough to pick up little bits of dirt, dust, and small paper from your desk, but not much else, the nearly 4-inch droid may be only slight less practical than the USB humidifier. Available for pre-order from NCSX, the retail price is about $21. The R2-D2 cleaner is set to ship in August.

Bungie and Microsoft revealed today the details of the new Halo: Reach video game, exclusive to the Xbox 360. Three “flavors” will be available for gamers this fall: standard, Limited and Legendary editions. The Legendary edition includes the coveted 10-inch Nobel Team statuette. All three editions are available for pre-order right now from many retailers, including GameStop and Amazon, with retail prices ranging from $60 to $150.
Halo: Reach. What’s in the Box?
Battlestar Galactica collectors be alert: Quantum Mechanix is set to unleash an extremely limited-edition replica of the Colonial “Blackbird” Stealth Viper. Built by Galactica’s Chief Tyrol, the Blackbird infiltrated the Cylon fleet and helped destroy the Cylon resurrection ship. Through QMx’s Artisan’s program, you can now own an authorized studio-scale version of this incredible sci-fi vehicle, built to order, customized and handcrafted by Hollywood model-making experts.
