Gentle Giant announced today a new line of Avatar collectible mini busts, set for release in July, 2010. The lineup includes mini busts of Jake Sully, Neytiri, and Tsu’Tey Navi Warrior. These limited-edition busts are available now for pre-order; the final edition size has not yet been set. Each detailed bust, created from the movie’s 3-D models, is in 1:6 scale (approximately 6 inches tall) and costs $75.

James Cameron’s film Avatar opens here in the US on Friday, December 18th (showtime/tickets), and so far the initial reviews are pretty good. Avatar is the story of a wounded ex-marine, Jake Sully, pushed into a growing conflict between human settlement expansion/ exploitation of an exotic planet called Pandora and the native Na’vi. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, Jake ultimately finds himself in a desperate fight for the survival of the indigenous people.

Sideshow Collectibles has officially announced their licensing partnership with Twentieth Century Fox on the upcoming release of James Cameron’s AVATAR. They are also starting pre-orders for their first piece in the lineup, a 21″ A.M.P. Suit maquette, which is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2010.

The Mattel line of action figures, creatures and vehicles based on the upcoming James Cameron film, AVATAR, is set to begin shipping in October. The toy lineup includes 4.25″ figures for the Na’vi characters, accented with glow-in-the-dark luminescence, as well as 3.75″ figures based on the human characters (such as Jake Sully, Col. Quaritch and Dr. Grace Augustine). Each figure comes with a unique weapon or accessory and exclusive character-specific i-TAG.
