Star Wars weekends begin tomorrow, May 21, 2010, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida. Combining two of my favorite things, Star Wars Weekends are an annual event at the Disney park celebrating the Star Wars saga with special events, shows, and memorabilia. This year they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Hosting each of the four weekends this year is Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka). For more details for the each of the four weekends, check out the Disney Star Wars Weekends website.
Mark your calendars. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland debuts on DVD and Blu-ray June 1, 2010. Disney announced that Alice in Wonderland would be available on a Disney 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy), 1-Disc Blu-ray and 1-Disc DVD. Note, there is no mention of a 3D version.
If you like bonus features with your feature film, it looks like the Blu-ray version is your only option here.
Spring 2010 brings a new character to the Star Wars galaxy of Hasbro action figures: R2-MK, an astromech droid in classic Mickey Mouse colors and distinctive mouse ears. Available exclusively at Disney Parks in California and Florida, the R2-MK figure will be packed with Jedi Mickey and retail for about $19. It’s a nice addition to the fun, creative line of Disney Star Wars / Star Tours figures.
