Several pieces of Hollywood memorabilia are up for auction October 8 and 9, 2009, including many from the late Stan Winston’s collection. Profiles in History is presenting their Fall 2009 auction with over 1000 lots of props, costumes, posters, photos, scripts and artwork. Among the pieces from the Stan Winston Studios collection: a screen-used T-800 complete costume from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a six-foot tall T-800 endoskelton, and a T-Rex maquette from Jurassic Park. Other pieces going under the gavel include props and costumes from other sci-fi and fantasy movies like Transformers, Star Wars, Fifth Element, Back to the Future, 2010, Batman Returns, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and many more.
There are a lot of very cool pieces in this auction, though the prices for many of these would put a serious dent in most people’s checkbooks. Starting bids for the T-Rex Maquette? $30,000. $80,000 gets you started for the T-800 Endoskeleton. Granted, there are some items with much smaller starting bids, but they don’t quite carry the same “wow” factor. If nothing else, though, it’s fun to browse and dream.
