eFX Inc. has announced that they will introduce a new series of high-end collectibles based on the classic Star Trek films and TV series, starting with the classic Mark IX Tricorder as seen in Star Trek: First Contact. The $350 replica will be available for pre-order soon from the eFX website, for release later this year. Limited to no more than 1,000 pieces worldwide, the Tricorders will be offered as a “Signature Edition” signed by actor Brent Spiner. For those that don’t know, Brent Spiner played the android Data in the tv series Star Trek: The Next Generation and subsequent movies.
From the official press release, Bryan Ono, president of eFX Inc., noted, “”For many of us, Star Trek was our introduction to the possibilities and promise of science-fiction storytelling, and it is an absolute honor to have been given the chance to bring Star Trek collectibles to fans.”
More Trek collectibles will follow, joining an impressive portfolio of collectibles developed or in work by eFX. In addition to Star Trek, eFX is also expanding their line of Star Wars collectibles, adding collectibles based on the original television series Battlestar Galactica, plus a very cool, 4-foot-long Nautilus replica from Disney’s 20000 Leagues Under the Sea.
“With the addition of Star Trek to the eFX catalog, we’re very proud to be home to high-end collectibles based on some of the most classic entertainment properties and brands,” Ono said.
